Opportunities in 2008
The Missions Commission is currently considering a number of options for
missions trips this year, and they would like your input. On February 29th
at the youth night the current options will be discussed, including the Boston Project,
rebuilding in Phoenix, LA, other long-distance trips, and local opportunities.
Please talk to a Missions Commission member to learn more and give your suggestions.
Missions Trip to Phoenix, Louisiana
In 2007 we made two trips to Phoenix, Louisiana to help rebuild a
community that was underwater for more than a month after hurricane Katrina, and
almost completely destroyed. In 2008 we are making plans to go down again.
The website
Rebuilding Phoenix is the place to go for more information.
A
Covenant News article on the Rebuilding Phoenix project is also very informative.
Please contact Matt or Mary
Overholt if you are interested in going and we will put you on the mailing list.
Missions Trip to Jesus People USA in Chicago, August 14-19, 2007
They are back, and gave us a great report in the September 9th worship service.
To hear more about the missions trip to
Chicago this summer to work with the Jesus
People in their inner city ministry, ask someone who went.
Juvenile Detention Center Visits
In partnership with Straight Ahead Ministries,
once a month a group from Community Covenant visits a local juvenile detention center for
girls.
More information can found here.
Food Pantry Collections
There is a basket located in the church entry way for food donations to be given to
a local food pantry.
